Some briefs arrive fully formed. For Sky's launch campaign for Saturday Night Live UK, the concept was right there in the tagline:
British Comedy. Nailed.
Photographer Will Cooper was behind the lens, and the visual he and the team created is exactly as bold as the show deserves — four fingers, four nails, four words: Saturday. Night. Live. UK. The kind of image that works at every scale, from a phone screen to a bus stop panel in the rain.
That last point matters more than it might seem. Images shot for nationwide out-of-home campaigns face a level of scrutiny that most photography never encounters. At billboard scale, under street lighting, viewed in passing — everything is visible. The skin tone, the nail finish, the tension in a hand held open and angled just so. There is no post-production fix generous enough to rescue an image that wasn't right in the studio.
For the hero hand, HHM's Kateryna Pavlovska delivered the nail and hand modelling. Nail artist Megan Thomas of Brixton Klaws produced the lettered finish — the kind of precise, repeatable work that has to survive not just the shoot day but reproduction across an entire national media buy. Prop styling was handled by Lucy Cooper.
The campaign is live across the UK now. The image of it running on a Bauer Media digital panel — a dark street, the blue glow of a bus shelter, those four nails glowing against a deep navy background — says everything about what the right casting decision looks like when it meets scale.
Congratulations to the whole team.
